Much like switching your energy provider, finding out who suppliers you energy doesn't have to be difficult. So long as you know how!
Have you just moved into your property or are you taking control of your bills of your bills for the first time but don’t know who your energy supplier is?

If you’re looking to find out who your electric supplier is, in the UK you can contact your local electricity distribution number. Your distributor can provide you with your Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) as well as confirm who provides the electricity to your property.

Finding out who supplies your gas is a little more straight forward – you can call the Meter Number Helpline on 0870 608 1524 OR enter your address on findmysupplier.energy
Finding out which tariff you’re on
Now that you’ve found out who your energy supplier is, you’ll want to know what tariff you’re on.
There’s potential you have a dual tariff, meaning your gas and electric is provided by the same supplier, or you might have different suppliers for each.
To find out you’ll need to contact the supplier(s). Before you do though, make sure you have your address and MPAN number to hand.
If you’ve just moved into a new property, you’ll most likely be on the supplier’s standard variable tariff which is commonly the most expensive tariff variant available on the market.
Now that you know who your supplier is (or suppliers) and you know which tariff(s) you’re on, you’ll want to find out if you are overpaying for your energy.
