Santander is one of the largest banks in the UK, with over 14 million active customers and more than 800 branches across the UK.

Offering a range of financial services including four main types of credit cards, Santander has something for everyone.

Each of their credit cards is designed to suit different needs, but each is packed with a lot of features:

  • 0% interest: currently most Santander credit cards currently offer competitive interest-free periods both on purchases and balance transfers. Their balance transfers are also fee-free for the duration of the 0% introductory period.

  • Rewards: Santander credit cards offer many rewards. While some cards offer uncapped cashback on spending, others provide benefits from certain retailers.

  • Security: to help protect customers and its cards, Santander uses MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa. Santander also has its own fraud monitoring system providing a further layer of security.

  • International purchases: three out of four of Santander’s credit cards feature no foreign transaction fees for purchases made abroad in the local currency.

  • Additional cardholders: Santander credit cardholders have the option to add up to three additional cardholders to their account.

  • Online & mobile banking: access to all of Santander’s digital banking services, including the mobile banking app and, text and email alerts.

  • Regulation: Santander is fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and you’re protected under the Consumer Credit Act. So if something goes wrong on a purchase you make between £100 and £30,000, you’ll get a full refund

How will I know if I’m eligible for a Santander credit card?

If you search for your Santander credit card through Monva’s comparison service we’ll include your eligibility for each product within the results. But, there are a few things you should know about Santander’s eligibility criteria:

  • You must be 18 or over and be a permanent UK resident

  • Your income needs to be £7,500 a year or more

  • You can’t already have another card of the same type from Santander

  • For their Santander World Elite™ Mastercard® you must also be a Private Banking or Santander Select customer

  • All credit is also subject to status and credit checks so while you may be able to tick off most, if not all, of the above criteria it’s not a guarantee you’ll be accepted.
